Movin’ On Up

August 10th, 2009 · No Comments · Pictures

This past weekend we did a little bit of upgrade work on the kids rooms. Really what spurned this is the fact that Campbell is ready to move out of the crib and up into a real bed. When we went on a beach trip a few weeks back the kids got to stay in bunk beds. Even though we surrounded Campbell with some pillows just to be sure he didn’t fall out, he did a pretty good job of not rolling around too much and generally staying put. So it was time.

We took Mara’s old bed and moved it into Campbell’s room. Then we took a spare bedroom bed that was in storage and moved it into Mara’s room. And that was it! Now Campbell is a big boy and Mara is enjoying a bit of a renaissance in her room.

My New Fav Buddy….BIG NEMO

June 29th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Campbell got a new buddy for his crib as big as he is from Lisa’s mom, Bonnie. He LOVES it so much. It’s very funny how he carries around a toy almost as big as he is. The funniest part of these pictures is something you wouldn’t even guess. Mara is instructing him the whole time on how to sit and hold Nemo to get a good picture. I guess you could guess the ‘directing’ part…maybe just not the fact that she was so into posing him just right for these pictures! THANKS Bonnie!!

King’s Weekend

June 7th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Pictures, Video

Yes, of course I could have called it guy’s weekend, since Mara and Mom are off to VA. But that would be so 2000 and late. Plus, King’s weekend is much more representative of how Campbell and I roll when we have the house to ourselves.

We started off with bfast at Mickey D’s. By the way, whoever invented the McGriddle is a genius. Campbell stuck with the classic hotcakes. I think they’re just yellow cake batter in the shape of a pancake. He’s a growing boy and needs to eat well.

In the McD atrium.

Next we worked it all off at the playground. How many calories do you burn riding on the swing?

Kings090606 06

Swinging is hard work.

Next Daddy went to workout. I forgot pictures of Campbell screaming his head off in the gym daycare, but it wasn’t pretty. Actually it only lasted about 2 minutes they tell me, all until they put on the movie, Cars.

After cleaning up we went out to lunch. Campbell picked it. Red Robin (good choice).

A King’s feast.

After lunch it is always nap time. Kings need their rest.

So, after nap, what is the right thing to do? That’s right. Back to the playground.

Kings090606 13

So many toys, so little time.

I think you get the picture. What other random things do Kings do, when left to run the castle?

Kings090606 16

They don’t clean up after themselves.

Kings090606 15

Yes, they do chores.

They dance.

Editor’s note: Although it seems that the Batman shirt is Campbell’s dancing shirt, or that he wears it all the time due to the frequency on this blog, we assure you it is not the case. But he does like it.

Brush their teeth (but don’t floss, sorry mom).

Watch Madagascar Penguin DVDs and laugh.

A very full day!

So Much For Bibs

June 2nd, 2009 · No Comments · Pictures

This past Saturday was beautiful outside and we were looking for something to do with the kids. We decided to do a little strawberry picking. They had been already earlier in the month with Lisa and some friends of theirs, but Mom and Dad hadn’t been. The kids liked going anyways.

Dad didn’t do such a good job picking out clothes it seems. Little did he know that having a bib wasn’t quite good enough for protection. It was a false hope, so it led him to think “why have bibs at all?” Campbell ate the most and picked the least, so does that mean he wins first prize?

Birthday09 03

The birthday boy.

Continuing what we have determined to be the tradition for at least the younger years, Campbell followed in big sister’s footsteps by having his second birthday at The Little Gym yesterday. However, there was a little bit of a complication for him this year. That was having his birthday fall on Easter weekend, and having parents that didn’t really use that much foresight to adjust his event to another weekend. I guess we didn’t think that everyone would go out of town, but almost all that we invited did. That meant that attendance was low on the kids, but the adults participated too to make it fun.

A few supporting guests.

All of that didn’t really matter to Campbell. He still had a great time and really the fact that not a lot of kids were there meant that everyone got to do what they wanted to do. Hillary even got to roll on the big wheel FIVE times. She made sure everyone knew. Campbell’s favorite thing to do was run around on the big mat by himself, and better yet was to pull someone onto it to chase him around. He loved it!

Birthday09 05

Running around was the best part.

All in all it was a really good day for him and the personnel at the gym were really nice.

Campbell Gets His Groove On

March 8th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Video

It would be an understatement to say that Campbell LOVES the song “Single Ladies.” He requests it often by saying, “Put A Ring On It.” Next to “Peanut Butter Jelly Time” (which he calls “Where Ya At”) it is his most requested dance tune. The real difference is, when he dances to “Single Ladies” he puts his signature moves on, and does them with the verse changes (sort of). Not the same with PBJT which is just a random dance. The wraith of his sisters uncontrolled moves don’t even phase him. I think Dad thought Mara’s smack was a lot worse than it really was.

So, here we give you the amazing dancing Campbell showing off his moves. Actually I have no idea who taught him this stuff, but I guess it had to be Lisa. Thanks Lisa.

Oh. And Mara dressed herself this day.

Haircut 2: With A Vengeance

February 12th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Pictures

A short time ago we posted about Campbell’s first haircut. At this rate, his haircut will be dominating the content of this blog. But this has to be shown.

I can’t remember at this point why it seemed he needed another haircut again. It must have been that it was looking a little unruly. I know it has been a long time, but I figure if we let it go so long the last time, why are we in such a hurry this time to cut it? Well, for whatever reason it was done.

This time however, we didn’t go to a professional. Now, I am one to think that with a child so little, how hard can it be to cut his hair. Apparently Mom thought the same. With mixed results. Judge for yourself.

Haircut2 02

Say cheese!

Haircut2 05

Haircut? What haircut?

Haircut2 11

Now, how did this get in here?

Yeah, that’s what I thought. We shouldn’t let Mom wield the shears again anytime soon.

Oh, and yes. That is the way our son smiles when he is trying.

Campbell’s New Toy

January 28th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Video

This video was shot a little while ago, but its taken some time to get it up here to the site. No… no particular reason, but just trying to date it. It was probably taken last year.

We had a box lying around, and of course, every child’s favorite thing is to play with a box. The kids were crawling in and out of it. I’m not sure what transpired exactly, but at some point Mara found herself in the box, and Campbell was on the outside. We ended up with a very big Jack in the Box with Mara being ‘Jack’ (yeah, I tried to think up a clever ‘J’ name in the video that was female and used Janet, which didn’t get understood very well). Campbell thought it was the funniest thing!

One of the best things happening right now is seeing these two get along more and more. Campbell absolutely adores Mara. It is also clear that she is the one that can make him laugh the loudest. He finds her very funny.

Happy New Year! Happy New Web Address.

January 1st, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Be on the lookout. We just registered campbellevans.com!! When we get some time we will move the website over there. For now you should just get forwarded back to this address. When we move the site we will set it up to do the opposite and keep this one too for now.

Strangely, had someone email to say that the .com site was available. They wanted $200+ for it. Then someone else emailed and they wanted $99. Then I found this and this. I let a couple days go by and sure enough the domain really wasn’t registered. The emailers automatically “domain taste” when you click on their email link to register the domain with no intention of keeping it unless you buy it from them. A nice $90+ profit, with little to no downside. Instead, I registered for $7.49. Nice racket.

Beware!
